The academic program at Nativity of Mary is designed to meet the needs of each individual student in a Christ centered environment. Growth in faith, weekly involvement in liturgy, service to others, daily prayer, and preparation for sacraments are important parts of our academics.
Students at Nativity of Mary are also provided a quality education in English/language arts, social studies, math, science, computer, music, art, physical education, library skills, and Spanish. Integrated Algebra and Earth Science Regents are available to 8th graders who meet the advanced criteria.

Based on data from 2022-2023, Nativity of Mary School has been identified as one of the top Catholic Schools in Western New York. Schools were evaluated in the following areas: STAR data, school leadership, enrollment, and finances. Top 3 overall when assessed in STAR data, school leadership, enrollment, and finances. #1 in Reading Growth #3 in Reading Proficiency #4 in Math Growth When ranked against other schools in WNY Diocese our retention rate is in the top 3 and our enrollment continues to grow!
Data driven instruction is utilized at Nativity of Mary School, with a focus on continuously assessing student learning, analyzing data, and adjusting instruction. The framework of this cycle involves: assessment, analysis, and action. The elements of our data driven instruction include the following:

STAR Testing: Students take a brief assessments in September, January, May for ELA and Math.
New York State Assessments in ELA & Math for Grades 3-8
Professional Learning Communities: The faculty at Nativity participates in ongoing PLCs to review data, set new learning goals, and reflect on teaching practices collaboratively.

Nativity of Mary School teaches beyond the New York State Common Core State Standards.
Common Core State Standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. The Common Core builds on the excellent foundation we already have for providing a quality education. Students will be fully prepared for the future to compete successfully in the global economy.
The Special Education Teacher's responsibilities include:
Implementation of IEP (Individualized Educational Program) and 504 Plans
Development of supplementary curriculum materials, resources and instructional procedures using a variety of methods/techniques
Collaboration with classroom teachers on techniques/methods/materials

Today’s most successful elementary schools require continued investment in technology. Technology provides teachers with new and innovative ways of presenting materials and helps foster student learning and growth. Our school is fortunate to have received generous funding for technology from the Nativity Parish Legacy Fund and through our annual Nativity Gala.
